Going into this internship right out of graduation, my main objective was to be hired on as a full-time manager. I can proudly say that I have accomplished this task, but it did not come easily, I worked my butt off! I started this summer off as a humble intern, but as it progressed and business picked up tenfold, I began taking on more responsibility in the restaurant and my co-workers started looking up to me as more of a leader than JUST an intern. It took me a while to get the hang of everything, having to learn a whole new menu, POS system, organizational structure, and the basics of where everything was in the restaurant. After the first couple weeks or so I began feeling more confident managing the floor and delegating tasks to the service staff. One thing that this experience has taught me is that in order to be a successful restaurant or business in general, everyone on the team needs to be working towards that same goal and at City Park Grill that goal was achieving guest satisfaction. The most positive aspect of my internship was the relationships that I made with my co-workers and more importantly with the guests. I was not used to so many frequent diners at a restaurant, so when I kept seeing the same people come in time and time again, I would go out of my way to make memories with them and just stop and chat for a bit. This was new to me because my old restaurants seemed to have more of a "hi and bye" feel, however at City Park Grill, regulars kept coming back looking for those relations.
