City Park Grill has a very good system in place to make sure that all goods and money is accounted for at the end of every shift. Being a floor manager, my duty was to check the servers out at the end of their shift and make sure that their credit card reports and server reports mach and there are no errors. This took a little while to master, however once I got the hang of it, it just became like muscle memory.
On a busy day at City Park Grill, the phone is usually ringing off the hook, because of this it is important that everyone works together to communicate call ahead reservations and catering events that come through the phone. Our Assistant General Manager, Joe Keedy is usually responsible for all of the event planning and large party events, other than that it is everyone's responsibility to understand the reservation and booking procedures on a day to day basis. Bob Keedy is the main bookkeeper for Wineguys Restaurant Group, keeping all of the accounting in order for all three restaurants. All of the equipment in the restaurants is owned by the restaurant group, aside from banquet and catering props which are leased through a local retailer.
In recent years, Wineguys Restaurant Group has increased their "green" initiative by implementing a recycling and composting system, as well as discontinuing the use of single-use plastic straws and switching to paper, compostable straws. City Park Grill uses computers for almost every aspect of the restaurant, whether it be scheduling, menu planning, placing orders, and inventory, it is all done with the help of computers to keep track of it all. The system that we use is called Digital Dining for all POS operations, I haven't used this system before now and because of my experience with other operating systems, I am able to see the benefits as well as the drawbacks of this program.
