Overall, City Park Grill employs 45 people (25 servers, 7 bartenders, 6 managers, and 17 back of house staff). Of those 55 people, only ~ 20 of them are full-time employees and the rest work part-time. Servers, bartenders, and back of house staff are recruited on a need to employ basis to keep up with guests demands. Management staff on the other hand are hand picked and groomed for their role in the company. I was lucky enough to be offered a full-time assistant management position based on my performance during my internship as well as my previous experience in the restaurant industry. Wineguys restaurant group has a proven track record of developing internal employees with growth potential. The average starting wage for hourly employees at City Park Grill are: $3.30/ hr + tips (servers), $12/hr (line cooks and dishwashers), $7.35 + tips (bartenders), and $10/hr (prep cooks). We offer Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance benefits for all employees after a 90 day waiting period, which 50% of monthly premium is matched by the group. These benefits and room for hourly raises help staff retention, however, because City Park Grill is mainly a vacation destination, turnover in the off season is ~30% making staff retention still a big issue. As for room for improvement, technological advancements are a must in order to keep up with the guest demand during the peak season, City Park Grill's technology and POS system is a bit outdated.
